Wedding Day: September 21, 2019!

I know this post is very much over due, but I have been super busy and just have not had the time. But, I am finally getting around to it, writing all about my wedding day! Which was, by far, the single most best day of my entire life. So, without further ado, lets get into it.

My wedding was on September 21, 2019 at 4:00pm. I woke up that morning very excited, anxious, and ready to go. I packed up the last of my things, had a quick breakfast, filled up my tervis cup with some crystal light and I was off to my church to begin getting ready. I picked up my 11-year-old niece, Sophia on my way over, and, together, we excitedly headed to church. We arrived, and I did a couple of small touches to some of the decor in front of the church, and then went into the nursery where all of us ladies would be getting ready. My cousin, Emily, did all of our hair. I got my hair done first. I had it done in a half up, half down hairstyle and had a really pretty sparkly headband in and also my veil. All my girls then began to arrive shortly after me so we could just continue the assembly line of getting hair done. And then my cousin, Lauren, helped me with my makeup. My maid of honor was my best friend Kendra, and then my bridesmaids were my sister, Rita, my cousins Lauren and Beth, and then my junior bridesmaid was my niece Sophia. Then the flower girls were my nieces Samantha and Raelynn.

As I was getting ready, everyone kept asking me how I was feeling, and really, I was just feeling nothing but joy and excitement. I couldn't wait for Matt to see me and to see him, and I couldn't wait to really get the day rolling and finally marry the man of my dreams and celebrate with all the people I love. I was not scared, nervous, or any of that. Just overwhelmed with happiness.

The biggest thing, was putting on my dress. Being a formerly obese person, I am use to things not fitting me. And leading up to my wedding day, all I could think about was my dress zipping right up and fitting me perfectly. My biggest fear was my dress not fitting me. And as I stepped into my dress and slid it on, I was feeling butterflies. My aunt zipped up my dress with ease, and my sister and cousins buttoned all the buttons one at a time, not even having to pull my dress or hold it together. It fit so perfectly. And I never felt so beautiful and so skinny in all my life. I felt like a princess, and truly like a bride. And now the festivities could really begin.

First was pictures, and the first few pictures I did were a "first look" with my Dad and with Matt. My dad really did not have a whole lot of reaction upon seeing me, he just smiled, and hugged me. But when I walked up behind Matt, my heart began beat just a little bit faster all in excitement. And then when Matt turned around, his first words were "Oh, wow!" and his smile was the biggest I had ever seen it. I ran up to him and hugged him and he just kept saying I was absolutely beautiful and he could have never even began to imagine just how truly beautiful I was going to look. We had just a few moments together after that and then began all the rest of the photos. We started with photos of just Matt and I, and then we moved on to family photos, and then did wedding party photos and ended with doing just more fun photos and family photos. And we definitely had fun with it and got a lot of great photos. My cousin, Heather, was my photographer and she did a phenomenal job!

Once photos were done, we had a little bit of time just kind of chill and relax, and then as it was getting closer to start time, I went and hid away back into the nursery. We had some snacks and made sure to stay well hydrated. And then once all the guests had been seated, it was time for the wedding to begin.

I made my way out of nursery and lined up behind all the wedding party. Matt walked down all of our grandparents and his parents first. Then him and our pastor, Amy, walked down together. Then my niece, Sophia went down, followed by the 3 bridesmaids and groomsmen. Then my maid of honor and Matt's best man went down. And then came by far the cutest part. My ring security boys, my nephews, Jackson and Cody, walked down, taking their job very seriously. Then my flower girls, and last was my 2-year-old nephews, Jacob and Tucker carrying signs that said "Uncle Matt...Here comes your bride!". They all did so good!

Then came my turn. My sound guy handed me a microphone. I had it all planned out I was going to sing to Matt as I walked down the isle as my gift to Matt on our wedding day. And it was a total surprise for him, and there were only a couple of people I even told about it so I could keep it a surprise. The music started, I looped my arm through my Dad's arm, holding my bouquet. I held the mic, and listened for my cue to start singing. The song I sang was called "Look at Me" by Carrie Underwood. I had planned on doing it with an accompaniment, meaning there would be no background vocals. But my sound guy accidentally played the wrong track, so I did get a tad thrown off in the beginning. But it was totally fine, and it still ended up being perfect. I stood in the back of the church and sang the first verse and first chorus, and then began walking down as the second verse started. And then by time I got down to the end of the isle, I was able to sing the last verse directly in front of Matt. It was absolutely perfect and definitely one of my favorite moments of our wedding.

My Dad then gave me away, reading something I had written for him to read so my Mom could be included in it, too. And then our ceremony began. And pastor Amy was just amazing! She made the whole thing so beautiful and so fun! I loved each moment and just soaked it all in. We built a Unity Cross together, and signed our marriage license. And then came the final moment of finally getting to kiss and be announced husband and wife! When we went in to kiss, no joke, we almost missed each others lips! I don't think anyone noticed but us, so it was all good and we got a good chuckle out of it!

We then skipped on down the isle, and after all our wedding party made it out, Matt and I then went and dismissed all of our guests to grab their bubbles and head outside to wait for the limo. Once the limo arrived, Matt and I made our grand exit out of the church and on into the limo, along with the wedding party. We drove around in our limo, made a couple of stops, took some photos and had a little fun, and then went off to our reception.

We made our grand entrance into the reception, my other pastor, Tito, prayed over our meal, and then we began eating right away. After we ate we did the cake cutting. And talk about making memories. Matt and I smashed cake EVERYWHERE! Matt knocked of my glasses and I had up my nose, all over my arms and hands and face, and even some in my hair. It was seriously so funny and fun. After getting cleaned up, we actually got to eat some dessert and not just wear it.

After that Matt and I had our first dance together, dancing to "I Don't Dance" by Lee Brice. Then after our first dance, I did my Father Daughter Dance with my Dad, dancing to "Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman. I shed a few tears and just hugged my Dad tight. Matt then had his dance with his Mom. Then we did the garter and bouquet toss. And then we did a dollar dance, which was a lot of fun! And then we just ended by partying the night away with some free dancing!

The whole day/night was just so much fun, so magical, and so perfect in every way. The day was everything I could have ever dreamed of and then some. I loved each and every moment of the whole day. And I would relieve it if I could!

I never in my life thought I would even get to experience such a great day, let alone feel as good and as beautiful as I did! And I definitely am so grateful to God for keeping me strong and helping me get to where I am today! I am so blessed and grateful and absolutely love being Mrs. Fairbanks!
