Thanksgiving! I am Thankful!
This year is the first Thanksgiving without my Mom. A lot of you may be thinking that I am having to work hard to find things to be thankful for this year with having lost my Mom and all. But, really, I still have a lot to be thankful for.
First and foremost, above anything else, I am thankful for my Mom. I am thankful that I got to have her as my Mom for a wonderful 22 years. She was the best Mom ever! She loved me, supported me in everything, prayed for me, guided me, gave me advice, and helped me anytime I asked her. She was the most selfless, faith-filled, strong woman I knew. She let God guide her through each day just one day at a time. She cared for everyone around her and always put me and my family, and God first. She taught me so much and did so much for me. I would not be who I am today if I did not have her for my Mom, heck, technically I would not exist if I didn't have her as my Mom! I love her so much and I miss her more and more each day. There is not a moment that goes by where I don't wish that I could get her back. But I am thankful for her and the time I got to have her in my life!
I am also thankful for all my wonderful friends and family. Without them, I would be lost and would not be where I am today. All of the amazing people in my life have loved me, supported me, prayed for me, and given me advice and guided me when I needed. And I cannot thank them enough for all of that. I am only able to keep going and continue on in life because of them supporting me and pushing me and being there for me.
I am thankful for my job. I absolutely love my job. I work with some amazing women and wonderful kids. Though there are some trying moments and rough days, I still love it. The kids bring me so much joy and laughter and I love getting to play with them and interact with them. I have grown and learned a lot. I am thankful that I have a job that I love so much and that can provide me an income. It is a privilege to be able to work and I am thankful for it.
Next, I am thankful for my health. In the last year or so I have gained so much in my health. I have lost a little over 190 pounds, and with the weight loss has come some major gains. Gains in confidence, the ability to run and play without getting winded, the ability to climb stairs with ease, energy to get through my days without being exhausted, being able to ride on roller coasters, sit criss-cross applesauce, and cross my legs, and being able to where cute smaller clothes. I am thankful for this crazy journey to better health that I have been on, though it hasn't been easy, it has been so worth it. I am thankful for the advances in medicine that gave me the ability to have the weight loss surgery and for my amazing doctor who performed and gave me the tool I needed to get healthy. Those same advances in medicine gave my Mom just that little bit of extra time with us so we could some fun things with her before we lost her. I am so thankful for that, as well.
On top of those big things, I am thankful for the little things. Things like food to eat, clean water to drink, a roof over my head, a warm bed to sleep in, a car to drive, and so much more. There is always something to be thankful for, no matter what is going on in life. Heck, every day, we can be thankful and find something to be thankful for. God has blessed us with so much in life. He has blessed us with way more than we even deserve. We are sinners and are not deserving of the many blessings we are given, but God loves us so much, that he forgives us and blesses us anyway. So a major lesson here, is be thankful and give thanks to God every single day, and not just on thanksgiving. There is a lot to be thankful for, every day. So be thankful every day and enjoy the many blessings you have been given.
