Summer Plans!

It is Summer! Granted, the only difference in Summer from any other time of the year for me is the fact that my brother is out of school and the fact we actually have a few vacations planned. Also, the big thing with summer is the warmer weather and the fact I can go to the beach and things like that! So what are my plans for this summer? Well...

First off, we do have a couple of family trips planned for the summer. Number one is we are going camping at a small local campground, and we actually will be doing that in a couple of days and will be gone just for like 4 days. The next vacation is we plan on going Up North to stay at a cottage on a small lake for a week, and we leave for that on June 27 and will be coming home on the 4th of July. The last family vacation we have planned is in August. And we are going to be going camping at Ludington State Park and plan on being gone just for a few days there. And we are all very excited for all of our vacations as they will be a nice escape from the stresses of life for a little while.

Something else I want to bring up, I know I talked about doing a 1 week summer camp in July, well, that kind of fell through. And it was nothing wrong on my end, it was all on the end of the Camp Coordinator. Basically, she is just very disorganized and almost never checks her email, which is the only contact information I even had for her. She initially said she had my application and they were going to be having interviews in April, then she messaged me and said they had 1 interview time in May, well the time they had was on a day that did not work for me because of a commitment I had to something else. So she then told me she would let me know of any other interview times. I heard nothing and heard nothing, I sent her several emails, no response, and just today I get this email saying they have no more available interview times because training starts in just 1 week. Hello?! I have been emailing you like nuts trying to get ahold of you, and you never responded. But, oh well, I guess that was just God's way of telling me that this summer wasn't going to work for going to camp. Even though I am frustrated, I am ok with it from the standpoint of I know I have a lot going on and this summer will be kind of busy, so it probably is ok in the end. And like I said, it probably is just God's way of telling me that this summer is just not the right summer for camp, so maybe next year.

Another thing I have going on this summer, is a lot of medical things! For one, my mom is back on chemo, so there will be some taking care of her helping her when she has her couple of not feeling good days. But due to the fact they are doing her chemo differently for the summer, won't be too often, which is nice. The other thing is, I, myself, have lots of doctors appointments and what not ahead of me with this whole weight loss surgery journey. And it looks like this whole process could go very quickly as we are pretty certain my insurance company has approved of the surgery and is not requiring me to do any sort of 6 month weight loss program. So, there is a chance I could even be having surgery yet this summer. Also, since I have not mentioned yet, I am going to be having Gastric Sleeve surgery, and NOT Gastric Bypass. My surgeon recommended the Sleeve to me because of my age and the fact that all he will do is remove part of my stomach, and he won't have to do anything with my intestines or my bowel. So there won't be any digestive issues or nutrient intake issues. Also it will less disruptive in the sense I should be able to enjoy some of my favorite foods to a very small extend, and not have issues with nausea and diarrhea. So, I am looking forward to that and am ready to start this new journey. So summer will be kind of crazy from that aspect.

The other big thing going this summer, will be LOTS of Baby Showers! No, not for me! My older sister is pregnant, and just recently found out she is expecting a baby girl! She is due in October, which means a lot of her baby showers will probably be during the last part of the summer, and being her sister, I will be invited to all of them, and will be attending all of them! Which I am super excited for because, I mean, I am going to an AUNTIE! And not just an honorary one, a for real Auntie!! I cannot wait to meet my little niece and to get to spoil her! So that is also very exciting.

The last thing I want to say, is something my brought up to me when we were out on one of our walks. She said in talking to her doctor about figuring things out for chemo for her vacations this summer, her doctor told that she has to enjoy her summer the very best she can and also live her life to the fullest, and that is why he will work things out to make sure she is not sick while she on her vacations. And my mom said to me on our walk, he is right, and she is determined to do lots of fun things this summer and go to lots of places, like Zoos, parks, the beach, and other places. Because she wants to live her life to the fullest and have lots of fun, and think about cancer as little as possible. Which I think is awesome and also a very good point. So, we are determined to have wonderful, fun filled, exciting summer! And that is what we are going to do! I feel God has a lot of excitement in store for us this summer, and I am ready for it! So, Summertime fun, here we come!
